I am Dr. Sophilia Lark, AKA, The Harmony Herald.
I am a licensed mental health practitioner, a certified integrative medicine and nutrition provider, a certified clinical trauma professional, and wellness performance coach, with a professional industry record in mental health counseling and psychological skills training.
I am committed to providing high impact, evidence-based, and safe and supportive healing experiences designed to help historically marginalized women of color restore the natural mind-body rhythms disrupted by relational trauma and chronic stress so they can feel safe, connected, accepted, and supported in their community and relationships.
Where the work started
My journey began in 2009 at the Sunbeam Home as a therapeutic foster care therapist, where I served children ages 3 to 18 with significant psychological, social, behavioral and emotional needs resulting from community and relational trauma. The opportunity to help improve the lives of vulnerable children by providing healing tools in a safe and caring environment was an invaluable experience I will always remember.
As I continued my service in community mental health over the next decade, I realized that beyond my work with children, there were millions of adults, particularly marginalized women of color, who suffered from the negative effects of community and relational trauma and were in desperate need of access to culturally affirming safe spaces to process and heal their pain. Across the nation, particularly during the pandemic, relational trauma, chronic stress, and other mental health issues were impacting Black and Brown women in record numbers, and very few mental health providers and programs were equipped to address the inequities in social determinants of health, including mental health, to help these women leverage community strengths and heal the roots of their trauma.
So, in 2020 I established the initial project of Unified Wholeness Lifestyle. My mission was to create a community of whole and thriving women of color who could harness the success of their healing journeys to make the world a much safer place to live in. Since then, I’ve been researching, developing, and innovating healing programs and processes to help women of color surmount their pain and pay it forward. The hard work has paid off, because I now have proven results – a multifaced and culturally sensitive approach to healing and empowerment that really makes a difference!
The Ongoing Work
By continuing to keep my finger on the pulse of the community, I am able to consistently devise new solutions and respond with tailored interventions based on client needs to ensure a positive and lasting impact.
In the big, noisy world of nebulous solutions and unfounded processes, I am proud to offer evidence-based mental wellness solutions that are in high demand as I continue to innovate based on evolving needs.
Constant engagement with individuals who seek out my unique process and approach to healing keeps me mindful of the central goal to promote access to cultural and community tools that uplift women and help them surmount and transform trauma, especially those who have been historically underserved by the larger mental health system.
